Fishers - Some
families are finding a way to have extreme
fun together at a one-of-a kind place.
It's no secret that childhood obesity is
a major problem in this country. One of the
major culprits is kids sitting at home
playing video games and on the computer, but
there's a facility in the area that solves
that problem.
Judi Cooper owns
Xtreme Fun and Fitness in Fishers. "I
left the mortgage industry after 16 years
and decided to get back to my passion, which
is fitness. So I did my research and started
touring facilities around the U.S. that
offered kids programs and liked it except
there was one common problem. A lot of kids
came in with the attitude that if they were
already into sports, they didn't want to do
it."
Xtreme Fun and Fitness is all about
getting kids active by doing what they
already know how to do - play video games.
Tyler Jobe frequents Xtreme Fun and
Fitness. "It feels great. I come here
probably twice a day with my friends. My
parents love it because instead of me
sitting on the couch playing video games, I
can be active while playing a video game."
Cooper has put in a number of fun cardio
games at the facility, aimed at getting kids
active and away from the computer and TV.
